Join UBC medical students in completing the IHI Open School Basic Certificate

February 14, 2017

Starting February 14th, 2017, a group of 10-15 medical students will be completing the IHI Courses on patient safety and quality improvement in a span of 6 weeks. During this time, there will be workshops on March 14th, April 25th, May 2nd and May 16th. These sessions will bring together professors, quality improvement specialists, students and patient advocates for engaging discussions. We would like to welcome students from all faculties with all experience to join us! We value all of your input and participation in this interdisciplinary approach to healthcare improvement!

UBCO IHI Presenting at Quality Forum 2017 (Vancouver, BC)

UBCO IHI has been invited to give a rapid-fire presentation about their journey in creating and stimulating a Quality Improvement movement in a university setting.

The Quality Forum is a conference that aims to inspire action to improve quality of care, share effective strategies and leading practices, and strengthen and create new connections and collaboration.

Our presentation is scheduled for Friday, March 3 @ 13:30 - 14:30.

Students in Health Annual Research Conference

UBCO IHI attended the 2016 SHARC conference (UBC, Vancouver, BC) to deliver a poster presentation highlighting the establishment of the club, as well as strategies put in place to help foster student education and involvement in quality improvement.

Lean Rapid Process Improvement Workshop (Dec 2016)

UBCO IHI was recently afforded the opportunity to join a dedicated multidisciplinary team from Kelowna General Hospital as a participant in completing a Lean Rapid Process Improvement Workshop aimed at improving the Emergency Department Triage flow and prioritization processes for both BC Ambulance Service patients and patients who self- present at the hospital.  A vast amount of ideas for improvement were generated, and many were successfully tested during the week.
